“Honesty and integrity are the two most important things to me—every single day, every single car that comes in here. What’s right for the customer and what we tell the customer are always the same thing. That’s why I’m in business.” —Daniel Flagler, Proprietor

DOYLESTOWN TWP., PA — For more than 40 years, Martino’s Auto Center has been a cornerstone of the Central Bucks community. That kind of longevity isn’t an accident. To hear owner Daniel Flagler tell it, business success takes equal commitment to the craft and to the customer.

“It’s always been a hobby of mine, working on cars,” says Flagler. “And it’s been in the family for generations. My grandmother’s brothers, two of them have had auto repair shops. Two of my older brothers had shops.”

Flagler recalls the envy he felt when his oldest brother brought home his first car—a 1941 Packard sedan with rear suicide doors.

“He had me holding the light and handing him wrenches,” Flager recalls. “I was hooked from that point on.”

Before long, Flagler was the neighborhood go-to-guy for small engines and really, anything mechanical.

“I worked on all my friends’ bikes in the neighborhood,” says Flagler. “As I got older, my toys changed to go-karts and minibikes. I bought my very first car when I was 15, and kept working on cars all the way through college.

Martino’s Auto Center has evolved over the generations. Once a muffler and brake shop in the late 80s, today, Martino’s is fully equipped to service modern makes and models. Flagler, who holds a B.S. in Computer Science from Kutztown University, says his education has paid dividends that way.

“[Every vehicle] from ’96 and later has a computer. Some cars have 20 to 30 onboard computers.”

A love of technology is part of the reason Flagler has continued his relationship with X2 Payment Systems.

“A few months back Nelson called to check in, and I had asked him about new technology. He told me about something was coming out and he said I’d be the first one to have it.”

That something turned out to be X2’s Poynt Smart Terminal, which has received rave reviews in his shop.

“Everyone’s really digging it. The whole staff. Even customers are saying, ‘Wow, this is really slick.'”

Flagler also jives with X2’s punctuality and transparency—two qualities, he says, are minimums to doing business.

“Honesty and integrity are the two most important things to me—every single day, every single car that comes in here. What’s right for the customer and what we tell the customer are always the same thing. That’s why I’m in business.”
