The Entrepreneurs on #OwningIt:

“We were just blue collar workers with a little experience in grocery, and a background in food service. We knew we wanted more for ourselves. [The Towne] was what opened the door, and it’s just been a great, fantastic opportunity for us.” —Pam Brunner, Co-Founder

TELFORD, PA — Ask any resident of the village of Telford, PA about their favorite food spot, and there’s a good chance you’ll be pointed to The Towne Restaurant.

Now in their 15th year, founders Andy and Pam Brunner, both of Telford, are confident they’ve turned a corner.

“We were just blue collar workers with a little experience in grocery, and a background in food service,” says Pam. “We knew we wanted more for ourselves. [The Towne] was what opened the door for us, and it’s just been a great, fantastic opportunity for us.”

Andy agrees. “We didn’t have a ton of experience. But we went all in and said, ‘This is what we want to do.’ And the [Telford] community has supported us. Now it’s a great place for the community to come to get their breakfast, get their lunch, and get to know one another.”

The Brunners credit at least a portion of their success to X2 Payment Systems Founder & CEO Nelson Verbit, with whom they’ve worked since 2006. To hear Pam tell it, Nelson is more than just another vendor: He’s a partner who’s genuinely interested in giving back to the small business owners who are good enough to give X2 a shot.

“[Nelson is] a great relationship builder—that’s part of who Nelson is, a relationship builder. He helped us develop our gift card program, which has been a great extension of our business. And as we grew into a second location at the [Souderton, PA-based] Franconia Cafe, Nelson helped us through that growth process.”
